Carless II
Ariella
My sister was crying hysterically into Glyndons chest as we heard the adults outside screaming and yelling at each other. My mum joined them after rushing my sister into Creightons room, trying to help calm everyone down but it wasn’t working quite well as it seemed.
My sister was not a quick crier so this was really a major thing when she was crying like she was right now. It broke my heart seeing her like this.
A silent knock was heard at the door and I rushed to open it. Remington and Brandon entered the room. „How is our freaky little Daddy’s girl?“ I narrowed my eyes at Remington.
„It’s not funny, Remi“
„No please, it‘s hilarious. My lordship is immensely entertained“
Brandon gave him a scolding look and went over to Ava, smiling encouragingly at his sister.
„How is the …situation?“ I asked, ignoring Remington who still had a grin on his lips.
„It’s okay“, Brandon said.
„I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU AND YOUR SON“ I lifted an eyebrow, not quite believing what Brandon just said. He gave us a forced smile.
„Well, he didn’t kill anyone-“
We heard glass shattering. „…yet“
„Oh god what should I do“ my sister cried, looking up from Glyndons shoulder. She looked like a mess. Her mascara was running down her cheeks, her eyes were red and puffy. I don’t remember the last time I witnessed her like this.
„It’s going to be alright Avs, please stop crying“ Glydon tried.
„I have to say though Ava, you truly deserve respect for risking your lives for-“
„Remington!“ Glyndon, Brandon and I said at the same time.
He gasped, clutching his chest like the drama queen he was. „Well, you all don’t deserve my lordships wise commentary. I miss my son“
„You’re not funny Remington, this is serious“, I hissed at him, my sister going back to crying.
„Oh my lordship can be serious, jailbait“ He leaned down so only I could hear it. „Say when and where and I show you how“
I cleared my voice, stepping away from him in order to hide the blush that was slowly creeping up.
I hated this guy and his unreadable sudden actions.
„Where is Eli?“
By the way my sisters voice trembled I could tell that she was actually asking if he was still alive.
At the same time we heard a knock - not from the door but from Creightons balcony.
„Eli!“ Brandon hurried to the balcony door and opened it, letting in a smirking Eli.
Ava looked up with a shocked expression and rushed to him clinging around his neck.
„Thank god, you’re okay!“
He chuckled, stroking her hair comfortingly. „Of course, baby, why wouldn’t I“
My sister pulled back, slapping his chest suddenly looking very mad.
„What are you still doing here? If my Dad sees you, he is totally going to kill you. For good this time! I told you that we should be careful!“
„Your body was telling me something else, nightingale“
I heard Remington chuckle behind me in a raspy voice which made my face heat up, looking anywhere but at him. Brandon cleared his voice, my sister looking red herself.
„Sh-shut up!“
Eli just shrugged and walked casually inside the room as if he was not the reason shit was going loose outside. He laid down on his brothers bed and sighed deeply.
„Uncle Nash needs to calm down, he knew this was going to happen sooner or later.“
„How so?“, I asked curiously, everyone giving me the you’re so young, you couldn’t know look.
Remingtons arm slung around my shoulder, his grin merely inches away from my face.
„Well you see jailbait, Eli and Ava were destined since they were little babies, shitting in their nappies.“
„Eli was basically obsessed with Ava since he first saw her“ Glyndon said fondly, smiling down at her cousin who winked at her. „Everyone knew and since then uncle Nash hated him, telling uncle Aiden to keep his son away“, Brandon added, taking a seat at a chair nearby. I watched my sister and Eli exchanging longing looks at each other, soft smiles plastered on their lips. They looked at each other with so much love that I felt like I was intruding something by looking at them for too long.
„THIS IS THE LAST TIME KING, WE ARE DONE. KEEP YOUR FAMILY AWAY FROM MINE!“
A few seconds later we heard a knock at the door, everyone jumped up except for Eli, who was carelessly laying on his side. When no one moved I went over to the door and opened it.
„Uncle Aiden“
„Is my idiot of a son in here?“
I nodded and let him in. Uncle Aiden looked always so collected and calm but I knew from stories and also from experience that he was anything but that. He was as dangerous as my own father.
„Sup, Daddy?“, Eli smirked in a mocking way.
Uncle Aidens eye ticket and he breathed out of his nose. He talked in a dangerously calm voice.
„Didn’t I tell you motherfucker to be careful when you are fucking Nash’s daughter?“
My sister tensed at the wording, embarrassment fully visible in her face when she looked down ashamed. Eli rolled his eyes and decided to stand up. „I was as careful I could get“
„It was not enough“, his father hissed.
„This was going to happen either way“ Eli said, totally ignorant of the whole situation.
„Your mother is a mess and is not talking to me right now.“
„She is finally doing what’s best for her“
Uncle Aiden reached Eli before anyone could react and grabbed him by his collar. His son and him were the same height so watching uncle Aiden kill him with his eyes whilst Eli smirked at him made my whole body shiver in pure fear. „Listen, you dumbfuck. If because of you, your mother loses her childhood friend and gets sick I’m going to give you to Nash’s hands myself and watch him kill you!“
„Since when do you care for mums friends? You hate when she spends time with anyone but you“
„I rather endure her friends than see a single tear drop fall down from her eyes! Now“ He let go of him with a harsh push and looked over to Ava, who was still staring down.
She looked so breakable I was getting angry myself. At Eli, uncle Aiden and even my own Dad. It was not fair that she had to endure a consequence of a rivalry she never played a part in.
Uncle Aiden sighed and walked over to her.
„Ava“
„Y-yes, uncle Aiden“
She looked up with broken eyes, little hiccups still leaving her mouth.
Uncle Aiden took out a cloth napkin and gave it to her, pointing at her under eyes.
„You guys are leaving, your mum is trying to calm that fucking father of yours down“
Ava flinched.
Uncle Aiden sighed again and took the napkin from her hands back, carefully tipping her head back by putting two fingers under her chin, cleaning the mascara from under her eyes.
„No need to touch her“, Eli growled from behind him, showing for the first time somewhat appropriate emotions. „Shut up“ His father didn’t bother turning to him and helped clean Ava‘s face before he gave her a rare, crooked smile.
„Take Ariella and go downstairs, princess. Don’t worry too much. Your father might be a petty asshole but your mum knows how to deal with him. And I have to give him that - he loves his daughters too much to allow you to cry like this“
My sister allowed herself to smile back at him, nodding gratefully which made me mimic her.
She gave him a quick hug before waving bye at everyone and taking my hand.
Eli rushed to our side, his eyes on his father for a second before they softened when he looked at Ava.
„You’re mine, nightingale. Nothing is going to change that!“
And then he kissed her and I looked away, blushing at the view.
Now knowing how long Eli loved my sister I couldn’t help but feel in awe but also somewhat intimidated by their love. They had such a strong bond that I believed uncle Aiden and him, that no one would be able to break it. Not even my Dad.
When I looked up my eyes met Remingtons who had a weird expression on his face that I couldn’t decipher.
But before I could think about it further my sister pulled at my hand and we went downstairs to leave the Kings property.
